  Prologue

Serena sucked a breath in as his lips clasped around her nipple. Her nails dug into his skin as he lavished attention to her other nipple. With his index finger and thumb, he pinched the hard nub and then twisted.

“Oh shit,” she screamed. She hadn’t meant to have sex with him. No, get in, get the pendant, and get out.

You know, excuse yourself to the bathroom, steal the necklace, and then out the window. Simple. Right? Nope. Rick stole the breath from her lungs with each kiss. Her plan forgotten…for pleasure.

She closed her eyes, her hands fisted in his hair as he made his way down her body. Soft kisses here and then a bite. Each time, he mixed it up, driving her closer to the edge. From kisses. Who could do that? She shouldn’t be this close to an orgasm. Rick licked his way from her belly button to her thighs.

The first swipe of his tongue across her clit had her back arching off the bed. He pulled her back, and their gazes connected, sending sparks through her body followed by tingles. “You like?”

The cocky way he asked and yet already knew the answer turned her on even more. She looked at him through her lashes. “Yes.” Her voice held a hint of reservation.

He chuckled as he lowered his head and licked her from slit to clit again. Her knuckles turned white from how tight she held the satin sheets. Any reason of why she shouldn’t be here with him, and of her mission forgotten. She screamed his name as she shattered under his talented tongue.

Rick slid a finger deep inside of her and then took it out. He crawled between her legs, raising a brow at her.

“Taste.” The command vibrated around the room.

She pulled her bottom lip in and chewed as she looked between him and his finger. No way. She wouldn’t let him place it in her mouth. No. It had been inside of her, and she had no desire to know what she tasted like. What the fuck kind of crazy shit was he into?

“No.” She sat up and pulled her knees to her chin.

“Yes. I won’t tell you again. I know how to read your body.”

“The hell you can.” Serena pushed off the bed to get out. She didn’t need an orgasm this bad. Yes, ’cause your vibrator is doing such a great job. “I’m not into that kinky stuff. This was a mistake.” She pointed between them.

He reached for her arm and tugged her back onto the bed, pinning her in place with his legs.

  Damn it.

His eyes roamed her body, heating her all over again. The muscle in his cheek ticked as a smile spread across his lips. “Baby, if that wasn’t the case, I wouldn’t be able to smell how aroused you are right now. When I told you to taste, you took in a breath, your eyes dilated, and then you let your mind take over.”

Ass. This man understood her more then she wanted to let on. “That doesn’t mean anything.”

“Do it, then, if it means nothing,” he challenged.

She glared at him and weighed his words. One taste won’t hurt, and then I’d prove him wrong. Jerk.

“Fine,” she said through clenched teeth.

  “Wet your lips.”

  “Why?”

“Do as I say. When we’re in this room, I’m in charge.”

She laughed at him. Had he been following her around without her ever seeing him before or bugged her house? Okay. So, thinking of a man taking control was one thing and doing it was in a whole other park. Yet, when would she have this chance again? Never, with her luck. She sucked a breath in and wet her lips.

“Fuck. Good girl.” He pressed his finger to her lips. Her stomach dropped to the ground. She’d do this. “Open.”

She obeyed and wrapped her mouth around his index finger and sucked. It wasn’t bad like she thought it might be. Sweet and juicy, that’s what she tasted like. She slid her tongue down and then back up, sucking harder. Rick’s gaze turned dark with desire. He pinched her nipple, twisting hard. She felt the sensation deep in her clit.

  “Hot. Not bad, right.”

She nodded. He pulled his finger out and crushed her mouth with his. His tongue plunged deep inside, leaving nothing untouched. Her body arched into his. He reached over and grabbed a condom, and then with his strong arms, he lifted her until she slid onto his hard cock. She moaned as she dug her nails into his shoulders. Serena’s head rolled back as she felt him all around her. There wasn’t a part he wasn’t touching. He had to be the biggest man she’d ever been with. His arms slid up her thighs to grab her ass.

He began a slow rock, giving her a chance to get used to the feel of him. She opened her eyes and stared into his aqua ones. A spark so different than the one earlier passed between them, and she didn’t care what it meant. She didn’t want him to stop.

“Your pussy is gripping me tight as fuck.” He moved gently inside her, and she about lost her mind. “I can feel you so deep.” Rick slammed into her hard, and she screamed until her throat turned raw. Her nails dug deeper as she bounced in his arms. She couldn’t hold on much longer.

“I wanted to last longer, but you’re milking me. Come.” Each word came out strained, like he couldn’t handle it anymore.

Once the last word came out, she came undone in his arms. The woman screaming, she didn’t recognize and didn’t care. He grunted and fused his mouth to hers again as he came deep inside her. She joined him again, moaning into his mouth.

  Chapter One

Serena pulled her coat tighter as the rain sluiced against her and the wind gusted, threatening to tear the material from her grasp. As she turned the corner, hope filled her. Only one more block to go, and I’ll be at the bar.

Some of the girls from college had never been there before, but well, she’d been to The Siren Bar before. The place was a regular hangout for those in the paranormal realm. Somewhere they could go and not have to worry much about the humans. When her friends had suggested they go there, she almost groaned inwardly as she read the e-mail.

The red neon sign shone brightly in the night as rain pelted against her. The muscular guy guarding the door nodded and let her in. At least she didn’t have to wait since the man knew her already.

Groans from those standing in line for access to the bar sounded as the heavy door closed behind her with a loud click. Giving her eyes time to adjust to the dim lights inside, she made her way to th
e bar. She’d been looking forward to a girl’s night out, taking a night off and relaxing for a change had been long overdue. The last time hadn’t gone so well. She’d ended up in bed with Rick. At least she’d gotten the pendant she needed from him.

“What can I get you?” the good-looking bartender asked.

“Sex on the beach,” she said, placing her order, then looked around for her friends. Serena spotted them laughing in the corner. She tapped her fingers on the bar and waited for her drink. Patience so wasn’t her strong point.

The hairs on the back of her neck stood on end, and for the life of her, she couldn’t figure out why. With her drink in hand, she walked over to the table.

Something wasn’t right, but she couldn’t put her finger on it. The hairs on her arms stood on end, and an unease settled in her gut. Normally, she could tell when something was supposed to happen. Hell, she could see it before it happened, but tonight? Not a damn thing.

A haze covered her vision. She could make out a guy and a crowbar but nothing else. This hadn’t happened before. She must be losing her mind!

“Well, it’s about time you got here,” Jane teased. Two empty beer glasses sat in front of her and another was in her hand. She didn’t waste any time. And of course, her hair was in perfect condition like it had not been pouring down rain all week. Damn her.

“Yeah, well it took some time at the bar. So how was your flight, Ana?” she asked, turning in her seat to face the rest of the group. Serena pasted on a smile and tried not to think about how she needed to be getting the rest of her ingredients for her spell.

“It was fine, but I was nervous as hell.”

For the next hour, they sat talking, laughing, and drinking. That’s when she spotted Rick across the room, sitting in a chair watching her. Shit! What the hell is he doing here? It wasn’t as if those from other realms and the supernatural didn’t frequent the bar, because they did, but to see him here took her back. She’d hoped to never run into him again. One drunken mistake. His aquamarine gaze locked with hers, stilling her breath, and caused a slow ache to pulse between her legs. She tried to look away, but her gaze remained riveted on him. Fuck.

Shaking the sensations off, she turned back to the group. For some reason, each of the women started to be affected by something none of them could see. Serena swallowed hard and went down beside Jane. “Sweetie, are you okay?”

Jane blinked and didn’t say a word. A burly man walked over taking Jane by the hand and led her away. Only then did she utter some words. “I’ll be okay.”

  What the hell happened?

A handful in the club went down like they’d been shot. White as sheets of paper. They didn’t move. Two went to the bathroom as if in a trance, and then they moved to pair off with men around them. Energy flowed through her, but whatever it was didn’t affect her. The sensation felt more like she’d touched a hot stove without getting burned.

She touched her necklace and saw that it was glowing a bluish-purple ray—one flash then two quick ones before it stopped. Serena rubbed her temples, trying to process what had just happened. In the four months since she’d had the pendant it had never done this, so why now? What made it flash? She’d planned on using its powers, but needed to get the rest of the objects together first. One had become hard to appropriate, and she had to wait. Serena hadn’t planned on things taking so long. It should have taken a few weeks at most but life happened.

She sensed him even before she looked up and saw him standing before her. The tight pair of jeans hung low on his hips. Slowly, her gaze slid upwards to the fitted black T-shirt that stretched taut against his chest. Muscles rippled down his forearm. Continuing her gaze upward, she saw his square jaw where a smile embraced his lips. Damn if her breath didn’t hitch once again when she finally looked into his eyes.

No way could he have any effect on her still. A one-night stand that’s all he had been to her. She resisted the need to squirm in her chair, but it wasn’t easy. They’d spent a passion-filled night together four months ago, and there hadn’t been a day since then she hadn’t thought about him. Her thong grew wet at the heated way his gaze raked over her already heated body.

  ****

Rick couldn’t believe that she was sitting in front of him. Her eyes narrowed, but not before he’d seen the heat behind them. There was no way to miss the way the pendant around her neck had glowed for a few seconds. He was certain the necklace she wore was the one his mother had gotten from her mother, and so forth, and had given to him. He’d get that back for his family’s sake if it was the last thing he ever did. His little sister’s life depended on it.

A rock-hard erection pressed painfully against his jeans. He didn’t expect to be attracted to her the same way he had that night. He was a vampire for fuck’s sake; he had the power to turn off emotions, but it seemed when it came to Serena, he couldn’t do it. Why couldn’t he? He shouldn’t be attracted to a witch. Mortal enemies and all.

“It’s good to see you again,” he said to where only she heard him. Soft and low the same way he wanted to fuck her right now. Or maybe her on her knees, hands tied behind her back and her pretty little mouth wrapped around his hard cock. Each thrust taking all of him to the back of her throat. Hell, yes.

“Um…yeah.” She drew her attention away as if looking for someone. Worry etched across her beautiful face. Her black hair fell across her shoulders like a veil, just as it had the night he’d been balls deep inside her, with her nails digging into his back. He’d had half-moons for a week.

“Waiting for a hot date?” he asked as jealousy flowed through him. The urge to kill any man that had fucked her since overtook him with the force of being rammed with a ball bat. No one but him would be deep inside her sweet pussy.

“Not that it’s any of your business, but no. I’m looking for my friends.” She stood and brushed past him on her way out.

Heat raced across his body, making him harder than he already was. It had been two hundred years since he’d felt a damn thing, but every time he was around her, it never mattered, she made him feel again. The skirt she wore hugged her hips like a lover’s hand, causing him to adjust himself before going after her. Rick wrapped a hand around her arm, forcing her to turn around and slam into his chest.

“Get your hands off me,” she hissed at him. Her eyes narrowed with a don’t mess with me attitude. Sexy. She wanted to do feisty? He could handle that. Her under him, fighting and clawing, screaming his name in pleasure.

He looked around. “Your friends seem to have all run out on you.”

She tried to pull away, and he tightened his grip. “I should be getting back home.” Still, she never brought her gaze to his, and he wished she would. He loved looking into her captivating grey eyes. In her eyes, he could read each of her emotions as they rushed across her face.

“I’ll make sure you get home safely.” The words rushed out before he could stop them. He must love the feeling of his heart being busted up after being around her; that or he was finally losing his mind. He bet on the last one because he needed to grab the necklace and get the fuck out of there. Forget how sexy she looked or how much he wanted to fuck her.

  “N—”

He placed a finger on her lips, cutting off her words. “I’m not taking no for an answer.”

She shook her head, and her brows furrowed. He’d bet anything she was trying to figure out why. Not that he’d tell her even if she asked. No, never. With a gentle finger, he lifted her head so that she had to look at him. He waited for her to fall into a trance. Her lips opened slightly, and she sagged against him. One nifty thing about being a vampire, he could compel people to do things. Not that he used it often, but he was desperate and running out of time. He didn’t have time to explain to her why she had to go with him.

Rick slipped her hand into his and led her out of the bar. He had to do it quickly before his powers wore off her. Once outside in the dark of the night, she pulled back from him. Damn, he’d not g
otten her to his hideout in time. Why had it worn off so quickly? With humans, it normally lasted for two hours, but with Serena it had only lasted ten minutes, if that.

“What the hell did you do to me back there?” The words came out with an edge to them.

“Nothing. You blacked out for a moment, so I took you outside for some fresh air.” He turned and caught the pissed off look on her face. Great, this is all he needed. No. Get in and get the pendant by any means. Who cares if you upset her? Except he did care. Damn it.

“I’ve never blacked out. Did you put something in my drink?” She crossed her arms and narrowed her gaze. If she could, she’d put his balls in a device and squeeze, to torture him for some unknown reason.

He ran a hand down his face. Shit. She was onto him. This was not good. “No, crazy woman. Why would you think that I put something in your drink?”

“Who knows with you? I’m leaving because I know you did something.” She spun on her heels and headed down the dark alley without wasting any time. Stupid fucking manners, he couldn’t let her go out into the dark alone. Didn’t the crazy woman know anything about the scary things that lurked in the night? Things that legends and horror stories were made of? Hell, some of those scary things would make those stories look like nursery rhymes. He suppressed a laugh, knowing that he fell into that category, and nothing could be done about it.

“I’m not going to let you walk home alone in the dark this late at night. It’s not safe.”

She stopped, then turned and jabbed a finger into his chest. “I don’t know who you think you are, but you’re not the boss of me.”

Taking a step forward, he backed her against the brick wall. He placed his hands on either side of her head, blocking her in. Rick heard her take a ragged breath as her gaze slid to his lips. He leaned in, brushing his lips against hers, and all reasoning of why he needed to get the pendant back fled.

  Chapter Two

Serena froze when his mouth closed over hers. He coaxed her lips apart with his tongue. The second she opened he dived in, taking control of her mouth. He gave just as much as he took from her. She could taste the hard liquor he’d been drinking as his tongue slid across hers again. Spicy. Hard.
